Hello, world
A first post on a fresh, quiet little blog — and why I wanted a place of my own to write.
Every blog starts with a post like this one. It’s a bit of a ritual: you set up the server, pick a font you like, and then stare at an empty page wondering what to say.
So here’s what I want this place to be.
A slower kind of writing
Most of what I write ends up in chat threads and commit messages. Useful, but ephemeral. I wanted somewhere to think out loud in full paragraphs.
Writing is thinking. To write well is to think clearly.
How it’s built
This site is deliberately simple:
- Posts are Markdown files with a little front matter.
- A small Python script turns them into static HTML.
- nginx on an EC2 instance serves the result.
Adding a post is just:
nano content/posts/my-new-post.md
python3 build.py /var/www/blog
No database, no admin panel, nothing to patch at 2 a.m.
Thanks for stopping by. More soon.
